She was born in Greenville, Mississippi to her parents Powell Winford and Grace Venuti Vance on December 6, 1941, and was the second of eight children. As a young adult Winnie loved to dance and sing, and further developed these talents as a dance instructor and wedding singer. Winnie's professional career included many years as an Accounting Bookkeeper, as well as being a diversified entrepreneur until she retired at the age of 65. After leaving Mississippi and living in Dothan, Alabama for several years, Winnie and Sherman relocated to Florida in 1997 to be closer to the true loves of her life - her three grandchildren. She was an avid dog lover, and her pup Shorty, a.k.a. "Buggy," brought her great joy and always held a special place in her heart. Winnie loved to read, cook, play Bingo, and could not be beat at Wheel of Fortune! She had a great sense of humor, loved spending time with family and was always up for an adventure. Winnie is predeceased by her husband Sherman Sr., son Sherman II, her parents and six siblings. Winnie is survived by her daughter Vicki (Mark) Ridgeway; grandchildren Sherman James III, Mitchell Ridgeway and Catherine Ridgeway; brother Robert Dodd; sisters-in-law Nancy Dodd and Sheila Dodd; and numerous nieces and nephews along with her grandpuppy Wilson.
