James Prior Hobbs' Obituary
James Prior Hobbs 71, of Mount Dora, passed away on February 7, 2015. He was born in Atlanta, moved here in 1946 as a child; he made this area his home all his life. He was retired from the United States Navy as a Master Chief where he served in the United States Navy Band from 1966 until 1988 and was the band's Operations Officer from 1976 until 1988. James was a 1961 graduate of Eustis High School, he earned a B.A. In Music Education at Florida State and a B.A. in Business Administration Management from the University Maryland in 1974. He is survived by his wife Alma, his step children; Douglas (Theresa) Oates, Kathy Oates of Tavares, Anne (Derek) Shepherd of Eustis, Tony Oates of Charlotte, North Carolina and Lisa (Danny) McGoldrick of Brooksville, Florida, his brothers; Wayne (Christine) Hobbs of Lubbock, Texas and Ron (Jennifer) Hobbs of Cartersville, Georgia, ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. The family will receive friends in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel on Wednesday, February 11th from 4 until 6 PM, graveside services will be held in Lakeside Memory Gardens, Eustis, at 11 AM Thursday, February 12th with Pastor Rick Pughe officiating.
