Harley E Gibson's Obituary
Harley Edward Gibson of Tavares, Florida passed away on Monday, September 7, 2020 at the age of 81 years. He was born in Murphy, North Carolina. Harley, affectionately known as Hoot to his family and friends, proudly served his country in the US Army for 8 years. He moved to Orlando from Atlanta, Georgia in the 1970’s, later relocating to Tavares. Hoot worked for Eastern Airlines for 25 years before he retired. He was a member of the AmVets. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also a sports fan, rooting for the Dallas Cowboys, the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves.
Hoot was preceded in death by his siblings, Frances Truett, Louise Wilkinson, and Norma Truitt, and his grandson, Randy Henderson. He is remembered and will be dearly missed by his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Kimberly Gibson of Hermiston, Oregon; daughter and son-in-law, Sherrie and Donald Henderson of Orlando, Florida; siblings, Dottie Merlin, Betty Ridge, Mary Helen Effler, Sue Reed, and Barbara Gibson; grandchildren, Alyssa Anstadt, Morgan Gibson, Mikayla Gibson, Emma Williamson, and Samantha Hampton; 2 great-grandchildren, Trinity Henderson and Alex Henderson; and nephew, Roy Keith Bates.
A graveside memorial ceremony will be held soon at Lakeside Memory Gardens in Eustis, Florida.
