Edward Earl Riley's Obituary
Edward Earl Riley, fondly known as "Bronco" by his family and friends, passed away at the age of 75. Born in Hastings, Nebraska, Edward grew up in Colorado, where he worked in dairy farming. His life was marked by a spirit of dedication and service, which was exemplified by his proud service in the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1972.
After his military service, Edward moved to Orlando and began a career as a long-distance truck driver that spanned more than 50 years until his retirement in 2012. In the 1990s, he made Mount Dora, Florida his home, where he became a beloved member of the community.
Edward's life took a joyous turn when he met Rose Carpenter, and they fell in love. They were married on May 14, 2023, and together they shared many wonderful moments. Edward proudly purchased a home in Lady Lake, where he and Rose lived until recently relocating to Altamonte Springs, Florida.
Edward was a proud member of the Amvets Post 1992 of Mount Dora and was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos, never missing a game on TV.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, James Zimmerman, Jerry Zimmerman, Dolly Labok (Ted), and Frank Riley. Edward is survived by his loving wife, Rose Carpenter; his daughter, Carol Riley (David Schlafer) of Wasilla, Alaska; his step-son, Ken Riley (Nancy Alvarez) of Altamonte Springs; his brother, Stephen Nelson (Linda) of Raymore, Missouri; his grandchildren, Richard Hughes of Orlando and Matthew Hughes of Wasilla; and one great-grandchild.
