Dorothy Merrill, 93 of Umatilla, Florida passed away Friday, September 18, 2015. Born in Jacksonville, Florida, she moved to Umatilla from Jacksonville, FL in 1924. She was a teacher’s aide at Umatilla Elementary and was an active member of the First Baptist Church. She is survived by her sons: Tommy (Ginger) Merrill, Groveland, FL, Al (Gail) Merrill, Penrose, NC, Rex (Heidi) Merrill, Altoona, FL, Kent (Karen) Merrill, Umatilla, FL; daughter: Kay (Steve) Buchanan, Monticello, FL; brother: John (Frances) Dutill, Florence, KY; sisters: Janet Fitzgerald, Montgomery, AL, Jean Delp, Pinellis Park, FL; 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Umatilla. Interment will follow at Lakeside Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday at the First Baptist Church, Umatilla. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the First Baptist Church of Umatilla Crisis Center, P. O. Box 3, Umatilla, FL 32784 or to the Umatilla Fire Department, P. O. Box 2286, Umatilla, FL 32784.
