Delbert Lee McCarty's Obituary
Delbert McCarty, 73, of Tavares, Florida, passed away on June 19, 2026, in Leesburg, Florida. Born on November 18, 1952, in Vallejo, California, Delbert made Florida his home for over four decades, settling in Tavares in the early 1980s.
Delbert dedicated much of his life to the open road as a cross-country truck driver. He found not only a career but also companionship in his work, sharing many miles alongside his beloved wife, Josie I. McCarty, who was his driving partner for several years. He later retired early due to illness.
Outside of his profession, Delbert had a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. He was a devoted movie enthusiast, always enjoying a good film, and found peace and happiness out on the water. Bass fishing on the lake, especially from his boat, was one of his greatest joys.
Delbert was preceded in death by his loving wife, Josie I. McCarty; his stepdaughter, Joyce; and his granddaughter, Pamela.
He is survived by his two children; his grandchildren, Daniel, Patricia, and Angela; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will remember him fondly.
Delbert will be remembered for his quiet strength, his love of the road, and the simple joys that brought him happiness throughout his life.
A graveside service will be held on July 2, 2026 at 9 AM at Lakeside Memory Gardens.
