Christopher Michael Brooking's Obituary
Christopher “Chris” Michael Brooking, age 36, of Eustis, Florida kicked the bucket on
November 25, 2024, in Richmond, Virginia. He was born to Patrick Scott Brooking
and Lee Ann Gantner on August 12, 1988, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Chris had a sense of humor that flourished throughout his life. Chris was fun-loving
and somewhat comical regarding his own demise. Chris had the laugh of a drunken
goose and used this laugh often and at inappropriate times. His lighthearted way of
dealing with life is one to be commended. He cherished and provided endlessly for
his wife, Katie and children, Tallon, Emma, Isabelle, and Christopher Jr.
Chris joined the United States Marine Corps on July 18, 2007, after graduating from
Mount Dora High School. He served two years of service in Washington, D.C. In the
fall of 2009, Chris was relocated to Camp Lejeune and deployed to Afghanistan in
March of 2010. During his deployment, he became a Purple Heart recipient in April
of 2010. Chris honorably ended his military career in January 2012.
Since his military service, Chris focused on his family life and career including fine
tuning his skills in the auto and insurance industry.
Chris is survived by his wife of 15 years, Katie Brooking; children, Tallon Lewis,
Emma Brooking, Isabelle Brooking, and Christopher Brooking Jr.; parents, Patrick
Brooking, Karen Brooking (stepmother), Lee Ann Gantner; siblings, Heather
Brooking-Jordan (Colin Jordan), Stephani Boulton (Joshua Boulton), Kellie
Zimmerman, Andrea Fragosa (Luis Fragosa), and Cameron Brooking; and sister-in law, Kelsey Williams (Greg Williams).
His memory lives on with his nieces and nephews; Adilyn Boulton, Evelyn Boulton,
Mia Boulton, Avery Fragosa, Zander Williams, Tanner Williams, Zoey Williams, and
Danni Williams.
A peculiar celebration of Chris’ life will begin on Thursday, December 12th from 5p 7p at Allen J. Harden Funeral Home (1800 N. Donnelly St., Mt. Dora, FL 32757).
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 13th starting promptly at 11a
